Purdue blew open a tie game midway through the first half and coasted to an 88-67 victory over Boston College on Wednesday night in West Lafayette, Ind., in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge.
Ryan Anderson scored 16 points for the Eagles (3-5) while Olivier Hanlan contributed 15 points and eight rebounds.
Terone Johnson led Purdue (7-2) with 18 points.
The Boilermakers used a 21-5 run to break a 20-20 tie to establish control. The lead was 15 at the break, and BC never made a serious challenge in the second half.
• Kyle Casey and Wesley Saunders scored 17 points apiece to lead Harvard to a 72-64 victory over Northeastern at Matthews Arena.
At 8-1, Harvard is off to its best start to a season through nine games under Tommy Amaker, who moved into a with Edward Wachter (1920-33) for third on the school’s all-time wins list with 120.
Saunders ended the first half with a two-handed dunk to give the Crimson a five-point advantage. Harvard never led by less than three points in the second half, with the lead peaking at 11.
Scott Eatherton scored 17 points and Reggie Spencer netted 16 for NU (2-6).
